Epic Week Out and About

Well now, this has been an interesting and full week. We'll cheat and include two weekends. Let's see what did I do last weekend? Okay, I saw Wallace and Gromit last Friday with Michelle, Liz, Dan, Eric, Sue and her friend Sam. That was fun, and we saw it at KoP. Quite a time.

Last Saturday I...I...oooh I know, I drank with Chris, Eric and Julia. Julia, Chris and I were going to go to a bar to meet with her friend, but it was the start of monsoon season in Philadelphia, so we just stayed in and drank in Chris's room, playing Halo 2. It was amusing. Julia sang the hump song, which greatly amused me, and she also yelled at her boyfriend over the phone, which was also amusing as Chris and I told her off for doing so.

Last Sunday was the Eagles Cowboys game
...yeah, let's forget about that one. Although, of note is the fact that Eric and I tried to relive the mojo of the KC comeback by going to KFC, and Sheldon Brown did have another INT return for a touchdown when we were en route to KFC. Alas, the team just sucked that day.

Monday was one of the few un-epic days. That must have been the day that I attempted to study for history. That was a very much miserable day. I went to work and I studied and I hated it and it wound up accomplishing nothing. Though…the away messages that night were amusing…about Socrates getting pushed down the stairs.

Tuesday was fun. I had my usual full complement of classes, but afterwards, I picked up Steve and headed to Arcadia in celebration of Tina’s 21st birthday eve. A good time was had by all. We hung out in Liz and Michelle’s and for a while Meghan’s room before leaving for some bar that looked nice enough, but had…no liquor by the time we got there @ 12. Steve and I sat at the bar for a good portion of time. We found some conversation w/ arcadian males about sports, took in the drunkenness of Tina. Man Tina got wasted. It was a thing of beauty.

We hung out for quite a while after at Liz and Michelle’s, after getting some Dunkin Donuts. We reflected on old times and how retarded Arcadia can be, as the girls told us.

The next morning Steve got to the bus and to school, and I drove straight to school after getting directions from Michelle that I was too stupid to follow anyway. Nonetheless I got to school well in time for my history test. Unfortunately, I didn’t have all that much time to FINISH the history test. Meh. I can retake it.

Wednesday night…I’m blanking on Wednesday night. I think that was the night where I was going to work on my graphics project but wound up freaking out over plans for Friday. Oy, that was fun.

Thursday was another long class day. But actually I was free of journalism and skipped graphics…because there was a Weezer and Foo Fighters concert!!! Oh man, what a show that was. Eric and I headed down with Brittany after she made us some yummy dinner. We parted ways during the concert but we texted as did Steve during the show. Weezer got really good during about half way through their set. There was a goofy guy who must have been wasted and danced and sang along like crazy. It doesn’t sound that funny but he was really amusing. Foo was awesome. They got all their hits in and sang some of their more obscure but better songs.
We got Jim’s Steaks on the way back. Don’t ask me why.

Friday I went to class, got a bunch of crap together til about 4, and then headed home. From there, it took like an hour to get home, and plans had to get shifted left and right. I wound up getting Steve and John from 9:30-10, and we waited for Laura and her mom to come get us. We were originally going to go to a train station near john, go to 30th street and then head to tiki bob’s from spring garden, but instead we just got dropped off at the frankford terminal, thanks to steve’s pointing out the dumbness of that plan to us.

We got to Tiki Bob’s at about 11:40 That’s when things started to sort of come unhinged. Michelle and Chris had gotten there fairly recently and didn’t stay for too long. Tim and Mooney were there. Steve couldn’t check his bag anywhere and didn’t know that it was more of a dance scene after 10, and Laura probably had some fun but also felt like she shouldn’t go too overboard, which left her unenergetic.

Nonetheless, John and I had an ok time, ended the night singing livin on a prayer and sweet caroline. Steve went back with Tim and Tina, a ride which was apparently quite awkward since tim was pouting about tina not wanting to get back with him. Tim had also ruined Tina's night with this. So that was fun.

John Laura and I took the shuttle back to Frankford Terminal, where Laura’s mother took us back to Laura’s house, we made bathroom stops, and then got dropped back off at Cottman to take the 20. Laura having stayed home, John and I waited for the bus and met this interesting fellow named Rory. Rory was a man our age trying to get by however he could. He sold drugs and took janitoring jobs, and his sales pitch of smoking weed and hoping people would ask him about it didn’t work too well, he told us. Rory, while interesting, luckily took a different bus home.

So John and I spent a lot of time talking and reflecting, some a bout the Raelian cult.

The next morning I left John’s and visited him in Rite Aid before leaving. He kept asking what I was doing on Saturday, and I felt bad because I felt in some sense he was not a part of the group I would later go to Widener with. It was a vibe I got, and I don’t even think I misread it honestly from certain people.

But life is funny in so many ways, and even reading a vibe correctly can backfire.

Eric, Steve, Kate and I met up with Dan and the other Widnerians, ate some Quizno’s and watched some Clerks before setting up for the Jim Brewer show that was there for homecoming. Brewer was hilarious. He did his usual drug schpeel, but also some stuff about baseball and raising a kid. Oh and a dog represented by his hand taking a dump, lol.

Almost on cue after the show, Tina and Brit called informing us they were there. They had wanted to go party hopping (Brit had a man to catch), so we walked down frathouse row, and wound up stopping by tom’s. By which I mean hanging out with Tom for the rest of the night turning his apartment into a party. It was really pretty awesome. Of course, I immediately felt bad that I had now failed to invite John. He’ll be pissed I’m sure but you know…its not the first time I’ve failed him, or others.

The night got blurry since I started drinking at that point. I remember talking and sitting next to Tina a lot, playing a circle of death card game, or something, going to Tom’s frathouse to meet up with him Tina and Brit after they had left, waiting forever at WaWa and that they didn’t have rolls, going to pick up pizza for Tom with Tom and Eric , and that Dan and Kate were both really wasted. Eric stayed sober and had not so much fun, but he seemed to enjoy himself at times.

Kate, Steve, Eric and I went back to St. Joe’s at about 4 and got back around 4:30. It was an altogether ridiculous night.

Oh and there were fireworks after Jim Brewer.

After the night was over I had a few residual feelings about Saturday. I’ll leave the from what situations to you to figure out

Confusion and frustration
Amusement
Guilt
Pity
Happy for someone

And overall, I HAD A GREAT TIME!!!

This week has been one of the most full of my life, and I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about it as much as I enjoyed living and cataloging it. The only reason I’m writing about it, to tell you the truth, is that I’m at home having a hard time coming down from the high that it put me on. I’m just waiting for dinner and hoping for the best.
